Hainan province joined the competition of wooing talented individuals from home and abroad as its third high-profile job fair concluded in the provincial capital of Haikou on June 27.
Sponsored by the Human Resources and Social Security Bureau of Hainan province, the event drew more than 2,000 job-seekers, with half holding a master's degree.
It's reported that some 40 domestic and international enterprises such as Guangzhou R&F Properties, China Unicom, global accounting and consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and e-commerce industry behemoth Alibaba Group, were present at the job far, offering over 1,500 job vacancies.
"A large number of high-quality talents showed interest in our company at the event. They are highly capable with excellent education backgrounds," said Gao Muying, human resources manager of PwC (Hainan).
"The job fair offers a good opportunity for the employers to find the most suitable talented people," Gao added.

In addition, the China Institute for Reform and Development, a non-governmental think tank, and the National Institute for South China Sea Studies, among some other research institutions and academies, also attended the event to recruit specialized personnel in various subjects.
A raft of 400 executive positions with financial incentives, including those for general managers, chief engineers and senior planning officers were offered by local recruitment firms aiming at attracting high-level experts.
The tropical island was approved to develop the whole island into a pilot free trade zone as well as gradually explore and steadily promote the establishment of a free trade port with Chinese characteristics in April.
Sun Zhiyong, a job seeker from Hohhot of Inner Mongolia autonomous region, said that "the promising prospect of Hainan, together with its unique beautiful natural scenery, draws me to work and live here."
Sun graduated from an overseas college, and decided to return to his home country.
At the event, many overseas-educated graduates shared the same view that Hainan is a promising location, saying "We hope to work and settle down here."

A tripartite exchange platform among the government, enterprises and high-level experts was also set up by the organizer, where participants shared ideas and compared notes centering on the topics of Hainan's advantages, talent policies, and scientific innovation.
According to the Director of the Hainan Provincial Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Zhao Wei, the bureau will organize recruiting activities in various colleges and universities across the country, including Guangzhou, Xi'an, Wuhan and Chengdu.
To further increase its talent pool, the bureau is slated to organize similar events in overseas countries at the end of this year.
A photography exhibition was also held to showcase the history of the South China province in the past three decades as 2018 is the 30th anniversary of the founding of Hainan province and the Hainan Special Economic Zone.
