China Inner Mongolia Culture Tourism Week opened in Ulaanbaatar, capital of Mongolia on Sept 5, with hundreds of officials and journalists from both countries in attendance. 

A variety of interesting and engaging events are expected to take place over the course of the next week, with significant numbers of visitors expected.

Bai Yugang, director of Inner Mongolia Publicity Department, Xing Haiming, Chinese ambassador to Mongolia, Ling Li, deputy director of the Third Bureau of State Council Information Office, and Ts. Tsogzolmaa, Minister of Education, Culture, Science and Sports of Mongolia, attended the launching ceremony.

The culture week includes exhibitions, performances, screenings of movies and TV dramas, tourism promotion events, and school and media exchanges, and it also features the works of Mongolian health clinics staffed by volunteers. 

The culture week provides an opportunity for visitors to appreciate the traditions and rich culture of Inner Mongolia, and it also a great opportunity to promote bilateral relations, said Bai.

In the past few years, Mongolia and China have continued to deepen bilateral collaborations in various sectors, especially in the area of culture and tourism, according to Tsogzolmaa. She believes the activities of “Perceiving China” will play a crucial role in further developing mutual ties.

The event is expected to play a constructive role in promoting communications between the two countries, and Mongolian media organizations are expected to provide significant coverage of the activities taking place throughout the week.

Xing mentioned that China-Mongolia relations are rapidly developing in 2018 as frequent talks and visits are being held between the heads of the two states.

The event is organized by the Information Office of the State Council of China, the Embassy of Mongolia, the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the Education and Culture Ministry of Mongolia, the Information Office of the People's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the Consulate General of Mongolia in Hohhot, and the Chinese Cultural Center of Ulaanbaatar.

On the same day, China donated 12,000 books to Mongolia Children’s Library, aiming to improve children’s access to reading materials. More than 200 genres of teen books including classic Chinese stories and Mongolian animal fables are on display in the library.

In addition, the 9th China-Mongolia Journalism Forum on the theme of Belt and Road Initiative and the new era of media cooperation is being held in South Gobi Aymag of Mongolia from Sept 6 to 7. 

Both the Chinese and Mongolian governments have expressed a desire to seek deeper cultural ties and enhanced cooperation, and they all hope that the culture week will mark the start of a new chapter between the two countries.
