Cybersecurity laws shared with Hangzhou university students

Prosecutors and e-commerce giant Alibaba came to Hangzhou Normal University in East China's Zhejiang province on Wednesday to share cybersecurity-related laws and knowledge with students.

Prosecutors in Hangzhou's Yuhang district, and officials from the university and the enterprises also agreed to increase cooperation to improve legal education among young people. They also established an education base at the university.

"It's urgent to introduce legal knowledge to young people, as the fast-developing internet has brought a series of security risks and led to some of them learning how to commit crimes," said Chen Juan, procurator of the Yuhang District People's Procuratorate.

The age of some offenders prosecuted by the prosecuting authority has been growing younger, and more crimes were linked to taking advantage of intelligent devices and high technology, according to Chen.

Yang Lei, vice-president of the university, said building such a base on campus is necessary and urgent, "as it will not only contribute to preventing young people from committing crimes, but also to improving our law education."

Sun Jungong, Alibaba's vice-president, said they will mainly introduce knowledge relating to cybersecurity to students to avoid some young people being cheated or misled online.
