Innovation and Entrepreneurship Sub-Forum held in Xi'an

The government of Xi’an, capital of Shaanxi province in Northwest China, has issued a series of policies around the construction of the national small and micro enterprises' innovation base, aiming to build Xi’an into a city of innovation and entrepreneurship.

At the Xi'an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Sub-Forum, one of the sub-forums of the Annual Meeting of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Education Alliance of Chinese Universities held in the city on Dec 22, Lou Wenxiao, deputy director of the Xi'an Science and Technology Bureau, said that the series of policies provide a new engine for optimizing economic structure, speeding up the transformation of new and old kinetic energy, ensuring and expanding employment, and enhancing regional economic competitiveness.

According to Lou, Xi'an has formed a diversified and characteristic development pattern of mass innovation and entrepreneurship.

By the end of November, 936 mass-creation carriers had been built in the city, with a total area of 26.59 million square meters, 35,000 incubators and more than 380,000 employees.

Lin Yuan, director of the management committee of the Surrounding University Innovation Industry Belt, said that as a main urban area with the most abundant university resources in the whole city, in the whole province and even in the whole country, Beilin District of Xi’an explores a new way of "university plus" by building an innovative industry belt around the universities, and promotes the integration of production and city, production and creation, and production and service with "university plus" to achieve high-quality development.

At present, Lin introduced, the Belt has jointly built a Data Intelligent Town with Xi'an University of Architectural Science and Technology and Chang'an University, and started the carrier construction projects of the Military-Civil Integration Innovation Belt. It has set up an incubation platform, gathered innovative elements, focused on innovative design, data intelligence and content entrepreneurship, and accelerated the continuous transformation of scientific and technological talents and achievements into high-Quality enterprises, created a "no wall" double-venture gathering area.

In the future, the belt will create an innovative ecology and an upgraded version of "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" through the no-boundary space, Lin said.
