Historical exhibition "The Road of Empire, the Rise of Yongcheng" launched in Xi'an

The exhibition entitled "The Road of Empire, the Rise of Yongcheng, the History and Culture Exhibition of the State of Qin" was launched on Jan 10 in the Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall of the Qinshihuang Mausoleum Museum in Xi’an, Shaanxi province, to last for three months.The opening ceremony of the exhibition was held on Jan 10. The first feudal dynasty in Chinese history, the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) had far-reaching influence on China’s development. The museum is holding the exhibition with the strong support of the Shaanxi Provincial Heritage Administration to show the history of the Qin Empire, the richness of the Qin culture and Qin archaeological research.

In order to show the important position of the Qian and Yong water basins in the history of the Qin people, the exhibition is divided into two units along temporal and spatial lines. One tells of the struggle in the Qian water basin and the other depicts the brilliant achievements in the Yong water basin.

The Qin people fought for many years in the Qian water basin, gradually growing from weak to strong. They then established a great presence in the Yong water basin, which laid a solid foundation for the Qin State to eventually annex six other States. The period of time was named the Warring States period (475-221 BC).

This exhibition brings together 186 pieces from six museums and heritage research units including the Qinshihuang Mausoleum Museum, the Archaeological Research Institute of Shaanxi Province, Baoji bronze Museum, Longxian Museum, Fengxiang Museum, and Chencang District Museum of Baoji City.

These exhibits embody the archaeological excavations and research of archaeologists in the Qian and Yong water basins, and also tell the story of the rise of the Qin people in Chinese history.

This period of history still has very important practical significance for us as we realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and pursue today’s Chinese dream.
