Police probe over missing girl taken by Hangzhou tenants
Local police in Chun'an county of Hangzhou are investigating the disappearance of a 10-year-old girl, who was taken away by two tenants in her home.
The girl, Zhang Zixin, had lived with her grandparents in the Qiandaohu Lake area of Chun'an.
A couple, surnamed Liang and Xie, rented a room of Zhang's house and tricked Zhang into leaving her hometown with them on July 4, claiming they would bring her to a friend's wedding in Shanghai.
On July 7, the two failed to return the girl as previously agreed, and surveillance cameras found them in Ningbo, a coastal city over 150 kilometers southeast of Hangzhou. The relatives of the girl had lost contact with her ever since.
The couple was found to have committed suicide in Ningbo on Monday.
The missing girl's father, who works in Tianjin, has rushed back to Hangzhou to handle the case.
The police are investigating the case and anyone who provides clues on the missing girl may be entitled to a reward of 20,000 yuan.
