Production expected to resume in New Area in Chongqing
Nearly 150,000 workers are expected to return to work at Chongqing Liangjiang New Area after the long holiday, local authorities said.
According to the industrial department of the area, the region can host a total of 167,000 workers, including 18,000 people who have been working here during the Spring Festival holiday.
Seventy-five percent of companies and factories in the area plan to restart production gradually from Feb 10, and the rest will by the end of the month.
"The demand for industrial workers is high for the resumption of the automobile industry and electronic information industry," said Wang Zhijie, Executive Deputy Director of Chongqing Liangjiang New Area. "Whether 30,000 non-local workers can generally return to work on time, and how to carry out epidemic prevention for them will particularly be the priority and challenge in our following work. We will organize enterprises to restart work and production orderly, and issue a series of supporting policies."
To ensure that the production staff and other "back-up forces" can work, Chongqing BOE Photoelectric Technology Co., Ltd has also been doing isolation observation closely for returned non-local employees. They rent two exclusive hotels as a temporary "Caring Observation Center" to ensure a healthy, stable and sustainable production for the company.
