Xi warns against politicizing China-US trade
President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday that business is business, and economic and trade issues between China and the United States should not be politicized during his virtual meeting with US President Joe Biden.
Saying that China-US economic and trade relations are mutually beneficial in nature, Xi urged the two sides to make the cake bigger for cooperation.
He said that China takes seriously the wishes of the US business community to travel to China more easily, and has agreed to upgrade fast-track arrangements, which will further enhance economic and trade exchanges between China and the US and boost the recovery of the two economies.
The president also said that the US should stop abusing or overstretching the concept of national security to suppress Chinese businesses.
It is imperative for the two countries to maintain coordination on macroeconomic policies, support world economic recovery and guard against economic and financial risks, he said, urging the US to be mindful of the spillover effects of its domestic macro policies and adopt responsible macroeconomic policies.
