Question:?According to media reports, Rishi Sunak, candidate in the Conservative leadership election and former Chancellor, tweeted that China represented "the largest threat to Britain and the world's security and prosperity" and that as Prime Minister, he would take a series of tough measures against China. What is your comment?

Embassy Spokesperson:?I do not want to comment on the Conservative leadership election per se because it is an internal affair of the UK. My advice to the British politicians is that, instead of offering solutions to the UK's problems, these irresponsible moves?such as smearing China at every turn and clamouring for tougher stance against China will only further?lead the country?astray.
