Communication and culture work paramount to national rejuvenation

In an instruction issued at a recent meeting on the work of public communication and culture, the central leadership said the work of public communication and culture has strategic importance to the future of the Communist Party of China, the long-term stability of the country, and the cohesion and centripetal force of the nation.

The instruction points out the direction for our work of public communication and culture. Since the 18th National Congress of the CPC in 2012, historic achievements have been made in the cause of public communication and culture, significantly enhancing the cultural confidence of the whole Party and the people of all ethnic groups. The fundamental reason for this is that the country has had Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as the scientific guidance, whose new ideas, viewpoints and judgments on cultural development in the new era are the crystallization of cultural development under the Party's leadership, and have enriched and developed Marxist cultural theories and formed Xi Jinping Thought on Culture.

Xi Jinping Thought on Culture not only contains innovations and breakthroughs in cultural theories, but also draws a road map and concrete tasks for the country's cultural development. It marks the Party's understanding of the laws governing socialist cultural construction with Chinese characteristics, and the Party's historical and cultural confidence has reached a new high.

Xi Jinping Thought on Culture is a constantly expanding and open ideological system, and will be further enriched and developed with the deepening of practice. Under the guidance of this thought, the country should further advance cultural prosperity, build itself into a leading country in culture, and foster modern Chinese civilization at a new starting point, and should work harder to improve the work of public communication and culture and increase the appeal and influence of the Chinese civilization.

In the face of the new situation and new tasks in the new era, China should strengthen the Party's overall leadership in the work of public communication and culture, and implement political responsibilities, to resolutely guard against and defuse various ideological risks and provide a strong political and ideological guarantee for us to undertake the new cultural mission and advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
