Expertise, wisdom promote high-quality development

The third session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference opening in Beijing on Tuesday represents the most important annual gathering of the country's top political advisory body.

The volatile world situation and the lasting downward pressure on China's economic growth require its members to make better use of their expertise, professionalism and close connections with all walks of society to contribute to the country's high-quality development.

A review of the CPPCC National Committee's work in the past year shows that it has laid a solid foundation for its members to better fulfill their duties this year.

With its main functions being political consultation, democratic supervision, and participation in political affairs and decision-making, the CPPCC National Committee, with more than 2,100 members, has widely gathered people's views, wisdom and strengths to make new contributions to help the country overcome difficulties in some key fields.

To that end, as required by the Communist Party of China Central Committee, the 14th CPPCC National Committee paid special attention to improving institutional mechanisms and work platforms, focusing on the correct political direction, academic orientation and value orientation of theoretical research, and better transforming the results of theoretical research into the capabilities of political consultation, democratic supervision and participation in the deliberation and administration of State affairs.

The CPPCC National Committee organized 85 consultation and deliberation activities of various types last year, with the focus on national strategies and people's livelihood issues.

In the process, the committee members fully utilized the advantages of the body's talent pool to provide solid support for scientific and democratic decision-making, and promote the transformation of research results into policy measures.

By continuously expanding the consultation methods and platforms, and uniting all the forces that can be united, the CPPCC National Committee sought to improve the consultative democracy mechanism and gather strength to promote the country's high-quality development.

In 2024, the CPPCC National Committee also carried out more than 6,000 "service for the people" activities to significantly improve the sense of gain, happiness and security of the people.

Looking to the future, the CPPCC National Committee is expected to continue to consolidate and develop the broadest united front to promote China's modernization.
