Myanmar quake reverberates through Southwest China
A 7.9-magnitude earthquake rocked Myanmar at 2:20 pm on Friday, as reported by the China Earthquake Networks Center. The earthquake's epicenter was at a depth of 30 kilometers. Seismic waves reverberated across multiple regions in Southwest China.
According to cnr.cn, by 2:50 pm, the emergency management bureau of Ruili of Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture, Yunnan province, confirmed that the earthquake had damaged buildings and injured residents. Local authorities have mobilized rescue teams to respond to the situation, and relief efforts are underway.
The earthquake's epicenter was approximately 294 kilometers from the nearest Chinese border, resulting in strong tremors felt in several regions in Yunnan province, including Xishuangbanna, Dehong, Kunming, Lijiang, Baoshan and Dali. Reports of seismic activity have also been received from regions in Guizhou province and Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region.
