Changchun's historic street blends culture with youth

As the first Chunjingxi Theater Festival began, the historical Beijing Street West area in Changchun, Jilin province, became a new cultural and tourism landmark that integrates historical significance with youthful vitality.

The area attracted over 570,000 visitors during the five-day Labor Day holiday. Guests immersed themselves in culture thanks to the landmark's 26 historical buildings. They also witnessed 50 parades, four art and culture exhibitions, 20 street art performances, and 15 traditional theater performances.

Established in 1907, Beijing Street has become one of the historical areas in Changchun with the most concentrated preservation of traditional buildings and intact architecture.

It is also the first historical and cultural street area project completed and put into use in Changchun.

The area transformed into one of the most popular holiday tourism destinations in Changchun after the festival opened at the start of the May Day holiday.

A series of activities, including art exhibitions, performances by the Wuzhen Theater Festival parade team, a coffee market, and a photo shoot themed around cheongsam dresses in century-old buildings, provided tourists with a unique experience.

In 2022, the local government began to focus on building the area to protect the city's history and cultural heritage.

The area underwent concentrated restoration and transformation to preserve the historical architecture as much as possible.
