FAW-Audi launches pre-sales of Q6L e-tron at auto show in Shenzhen
FAW-Audi started pre-sales of the Q6L e-tron family at the Guangdong- Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Auto Show in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, on May 31, as the first premium automaker to cooperate with Huawei.
This strategic partnership merges German engineering excellence with local innovation, positioning Audi to thrive in China's hyper-competitive auto market.
Michael Arndt, president of FAW-Audi Sales Co, said: "The electrification and intelligent development in China is staggering — with a new model launching in China every three days on average."
To remain competitive in the fast-evolving market, Audi has embraced Chinese tech. In 2019, it became the first luxury brand to partner with Huawei, integrating customized Huawei Qiankun driving-assisted tech into its vehicles.
The dual LiDARs and visual system enable map-free Level 2 driving-assist, highway lane changes and auto-parking functions, targeting tech-savvy Chinese consumers.
"Audi and Huawei share highly compatible philosophies, and our strategic cooperation has already yielded significant results. The Q6L e-tron now available for pre-sale represents our first collaborative model," Arndt said.
The two sides will introduce more collaborative models while continuously perfecting the technological symbiosis, ensuring the ongoing evolution of the German engineering and Chinese innovation cooperation model, he added.
The Q6L e-tron family is also the first model produced at the state-of-the-art factory in Changchun, Jilin province. It is Audi's first pure EV production base in China, which aims to deliver the strict quality of German craftsmanship and quickly respond to the changing needs of Chinese customers.
Helmut Stettner, CEO of Audi FAW NEV Co, said the factory plays a central role in the future of Audi's electrification strategy. It integrates modern manufacturing processes and leading automation rates, while implementing environmental protection concepts.
The factory's body shop boasts 88 percent automation with more than 800 robots for precision and efficiency, with every vehicle tested to German standards. The plant site is net carbon neutral from day one, powered by rooftop solar that meet a significant portion of its energy needs, according to Stettner.
The EV models from the factory are based on the PPE platform, co-developed by Audi and Porsche, which has achieved innovations in battery management, energy efficiency optimization, charging technology and integrated driving assistance, said Stettner.
It can flexibly adapt to vehicles from different segments. The full domain 800 voltage architecture supports a maximum charging power of 270 kilowatt, enabling fast charging and good compatibility. With a battery capacity of 107 kilowatt-hours, it offers an ultra-long range of nearly 785 kilometers.
