Pianist's ode to home

He has numerous career highlights making it difficult to pick out just one. But he notes that he played for royalty — Britain's King Charles III — when he was still a prince.

"I performed for King Charles while he was still Prince Charles during the opening of a Chinese cultural center in London," he says. "He was the guest of honor and … it was an incredible experience to meet King Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. He was incredibly kind and it's an honor, of course."

In 2009, he was featured in the documentary The World's Greatest Musical Prodigies on Channel 4, a British television channel.

He's a laureate of international competitions, with first-prize wins at Ettlingen, Gina Bachauer, and Monte Carlo Music Masters, and is on the Young Concert Artists roster.

He has also played with the London Symphony Orchestra under Simon Rattle, Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra under Edo de Waart, English Chamber Orchestra under the late Raymond Leppard, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, and Minnesota Orchestra.

He is delighted to be part of a new generation that has the opportunity to "really make classical music, something cool, something popular".

Looking toward the future, he says that his plan is to continue what he is doing and hopefully play on a larger scale with other major orchestras in the world. He also hopes to do recital series and collaborate with different instrumentalists and musicians.

"Finally, I get to really forge a path in the musical career with all the support and all this outpouring of love from so many different parties and I'm just so happy that it happened this way," he says.

"Ultimately, the goal is to make music and hopefully communicate and create memorable experiences for audiences worldwide. And as long as people enjoy my music, as many people as possible, I will be very happy."
