Ningxia fuses Yellow River culture with tourism for global appeal

The Ningxia Hui autonomous region is intensifying efforts to advance ecological conservation and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.

Ma Honghai, director of Ningxia's Culture and Tourism Department, said that the autonomous region regards Yellow River culture as the core of its integration of culture and tourism.

Over the past three years, more than 1 billion yuan ($1.4 million) has been invested to support the movement by upgrading infrastructure and developing brands.

The eastern foothills of Helan Mountain in Ningxia are being developed into a wine tourism corridor. The area has hosted the China (Ningxia) International Wine Culture and Tourism Expo for the last five years. It has 17 wineries rated as national A-level tourist attractions, which attract over 3 million visitors annually.

The Western Xia Mausoleum was inscribed on the World Heritage List earlier this year, becoming a showcase of the pluralistic and integrated pattern of Chinese civilization.

Ningxia aims to deepen international cooperation by developing its capital, Yinchuan, into a world-class tourist city with cross-regional premium travel routes, multilingual services, and smart tourism. Tourism promotion will be integrated into international cultural exchange activities to attract more international tourists.
