Intl students embark on world heritage journey in Beijing

More than 100 international students came together at the Temple of Heaven in Beijing on Thursday, joining 40 Chinese peers to embark on the "Beijing World Heritage" international dialogue and heritage experience tour.

Students from 10 overseas universities, including New York University, the University of Chicago, and the University of Cambridge, took part alongside those from the University of International Business and Economics in Beijing. Over the four-day program, they will visit UNESCO World Heritage sites in the Chinese capital, such as the Forbidden City, the Great Wall and the Summer Palace, as well as explore landmarks like Tsinghua University, the 798 Art Zone, and Sanlitun - a vibrant commercial district. The journey will offer a glimpse into the richness of traditional Chinese culture through world heritage, while unveiling the unique allure and modern vibrancy of Beijing.

The event coincides with the first anniversary of Beijing Central Axis' inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List and the 40th anniversary of China's accession to the World Heritage Convention. It is co-organized by the Beijing NGO Association for International Exchanges, the Beijing Municipal Cultural Heritage Bureau and the Ng Teng Fong Charitable Foundation.

On Friday, Chinese and international youth engaged in a dialogue session where scholars and experts from China and abroad shared insights on heritage conservation, promoting global cooperation, and mutual learning among civilizations.
