Guangzhou forestry and fruit expo to showcase Xinjiang's specialty products

The Fifth China Xinjiang Special Forestry and Fruit Products Expo, which opens next week in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, will help expand the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's sales market of high-quality forest and?fruit specialty products from the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.

Zhang Dongsheng, deputy director general of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region government, spoke at a news conference in Guangzhou, saying that the annual event is also expected to help construct Xinjiang into a major supply base for important agricultural and livestock products nationwide and promote the region's social stability and economic development.

According to Zhang, Xinjiang's total area of forest and fruit cultivation remains stable at around 1.33 million hectares, with its fruit output reaching 14 million metric tons in 2025. The northwestern Chinese region ranks first in China in jujube, grape, apricot, and almond output.

Xinjiang's deep-processed products have now become diversified, with the cold chain logistics and marketing systems being further improved, said Zhang.

The deputy director general said Xinjiang's forest and fruit industry has become a green industry with a wide coverage, benefiting a large population and boasting enormous development potential, as well as a pillar industry for increasing farmer incomes.

The expo will take place in the exhibition halls of the China Import and Export Fair, known as the Canton Fair, from November 14 to 16.

More than 300 exhibitors from Xinjiang will display characteristic forest and fruit products, agricultural and livestock products, and refined and deep-processed products at the event, which is expected to attract more than 400 procurement officers.

More than 50 products related to desert farming, floriculture, and Chinese medicinal materials industry have been added for the first time, focusing on demonstrating the diversified development of Xinjiang's forestry and grass industry, said Zhang.

"Through multi-party collaboration, business talks and signing agreements, the expo is expected to help further explore and expand the sales market for Xinjiang's high-quality forest and specialty products in the GBA, helping to position Xinjiang as a key national supplier of agricultural and livestock products," he added.
