During this year's Singles Day shopping festival — the online sales event peaking on Nov 11 — East China's Zhejiang handled more than 100 million express parcels per day, with nearly 50 million items delivered daily, according to preliminary data announced by the provincial government.

Zhejiang's overall parcel volume rose from 20.38 billion items in 2020 to 33.57 billion in 2024, averaging 13 percent annual growth and accounting for 17.3 percent of the national total, the country's second-largest share.

Express deliveries grew even faster, climbing from 17.95 billion to 32.19 billion over the same period, an average annual increase of 16 percent.

The province has built four major express hubs in Hangzhou, Ningbo and Zhoushan, Wenzhou, as well as Jinhua and Yiwu, forming a high-efficiency network that links production zones, ports, and e-commerce platforms.

Zhejiang has also expanded its global reach by using front-positioned warehouses in Hangzhou and Yiwu to consolidate parcels before shipping, while operating nearly 100 overseas warehouses to support smoother cross-border delivery.
