SMEs development to be encouraged

China will steadily develop small and medium-sized financial companies under different ownerships and increase innovative financial institutions in the rural areas.

The government will guide the finance activities in the private sector to grow healthily, Premier Wen Jiabao said at the parliament's annual session held today.

He said China will continue to reform its capital market, and make efforts to stabilize the stock market.
