Chinese equities opened lower on Monday morning with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index sliding 1.51 percent, or 43.06 points, to open at 2,817.63.

The Shenzhen Component Index lost 1.33 percent, or 152.62 points, to open at 11,297.46.
