BEIJING - Chinese shares closed mixed on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down by 0.58 percent to finish at 4,375.76 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index gained 0.71 percent to close at 15,173.09 points.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, shed 1.79 percent to end at 3,192.15 points.
