New X1 'has all the ingredients of a leading model'

BMW Brilliance Automotive Co Ltd rolled out the new BMW X1 xDrive 20i Lifestyle on Oct 24, when it held the xDrive Live Tour in Chengdu, the capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province.

Equipped with the xDrive system, the entry-level premium model offers more BMW fans the chance to get behind the wheel at a more affordable price of 359,000 yuan, said the company.

When compared with other all-wheel-drive systems, the xDrive has quite clear advantages. It has perfect combination of all the advantages of the BMW rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive systems.

The technology was by far the most dynamic all-wheel-drive system. It has a super fast reaction time of 0.1 second, as well as full variable power distribution. The result is precise driving characteristics, regardless of the road conditions.

BMW xDrive was invented in 2003, but the company has been building all-wheel-drive cars for almost 30 years, the first of which was the BMW 325iX that was launched in 1985. BMW now has 92 models equipped with the xDrive technology.

Driving a BMW is now even more pleasurable as the company offers the best driving comfort combined with maximum safety under all road conditions with xDrive.

In addition to the xDrive technology, the model sports an N20 turbocharged four-cylinder engine and an 8-speed automatic/manual transmission. It has top torque of 270Nm and a maximum output of 135 kW.

It features a panorama glass roof, high-intensity discharge front lamps, run-flat tires and leather seats, and those in the front row can be heated.

The model's 2,760 mm wheelbase is the longest in its segment and offers more legroom for the driver and passengers.

As well as the xDrive 20i Lifestyle, the new X1 model comes in another nine variants, with prices ranging from 259,000 yuan to 436,000 yuan.

BMW launched its X family in 2009 and the BMW X1 became the world's first premium compact sports-activity vehicle. Since then, the model has won the trust of more than half a million customers around the world and is a leader in its segment.
