Coal-fired power plants urged to purchase coal abroad

Chinese coal-fired power plants are urged to purchase coal abroad, a senior official with the National Energy Administration told China Daily today. The move will save domestic resources and boost the economies of energy exporting countries.

The official said purchasing coal abroad may incur losses to domestic coal companies, but it helps preserve the country's resources.
