US asked to ensure safety of Chinese assets

China has asked the US government to ensure the safety of China's assets in the US, Premier Wen Jiabao said today at the press conference after the second session of the 11th National People's Congress closed.

As China is now the largest creditor for the US, Wen said he was really worry about China's assets in the US.

"We hope the US government will keep the promise and ensure the safety of China's assets in the US," said Wen.

According to the US Treasury, China held $681.9 billion worth of US government bonds as of last November.
