China's stocks close down Tuesday

BEIJING: Chinese shares dropped Tuesday with property developers and banks leading the slump.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index shed 1.90 percent to close at 2,622.63 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index shrank 2.40 percent to 10,365.23 points.

Total turnover shrank to 184.69 billion yuan ($27.04 billion) from 222.12 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Losers outnumbered gainers by 631 to 249 in Shanghai and 636 to 296 in Shenzhen.
