Deng Zhiyou becomes new chairman of Chang'an Group

BEIJING -- Deng Zhiyou, 50, vice president of China South Industry Group Corp (CSGC), was appointed new chairman of China Chang'an Automobile Group Corp (CCAG) on October 16, succeeding Xu Liuping, and nine days later on October 25, Deng was appointed chairman of Chang'an Automobile Co Ltd, according to a report on auto.qq.com citing information from CSGC.

With his new posts, Deng will be totally responsible for all Chang'an brand vehicle operations.

Before joining CSGC in 2005, Deng worked at Chongqing Qingshan Industry Co Ltd as director, general manager and president. In CSGC, Deng served as the company's capital planning director, director of Southeast China operations, and director of automotive department.

Later, Deng was appointed CCAG's executive director, vice president and general manger. Deng also was director, chairman and secretary of the Party of Taiyuan Chang'an Heavy-Duty Truck Co Ltd chief economic manager, planning manager and director of the board of CSGC. He was appointed the company's vice president on June 28, 2012.

Xu Liuping, 49, former CCAG's chairman and secretary of the Party and Chang'an's chairman, was promoted as CSGC's new president on October 16.

Xu started his career at NORINCO in June 1988. NORINCO divided into China North Industries Group Corp (CNGC) and CSGC in 1999. Xu served as secretary to general manager in 1999, deputy director of planning department of CSGC and vice general manager of Chang'an from 2000 to 2003, CSGC's planning manager and automotive department manager in 2004, CSGC's vice general manager and CCAG's executive director and senior vice president in 2005.

Xu was appointed Chang's president and secretary of the Party on February 6, 2006. Xu became Chang'an's chairman, president and secretary of the Party in December 2007.

Xu took the post as CCAG's president and secretary of the Party in November 10, 2009 after the company modified its automotive operations to include acquired Changhe and Hafei. Xu became CCAG's chairman in October 2010.

According to Chang'an, the company sold 172,300 vehicles in the first 10 months of the year, a year-on-year rise of 23.35 percent. Sales grew at a high rate for both Chang'an brand and Chang'an-Ford vehicles.
