BEIJING - China has adopted a standard judicial examination system for those who want to become judges, prosecutors and lawyers, says a white paper published by the Information Office of China's State Council on Thursday.

"The best of the examinees who pass the state judicial examination are employed as junior judges and prosecutors," says the paper.

The paper, entitled China's Efforts and Achievements in Promoting the Rule of Law, also notes that the first nationwide uniform examination for the qualification of the lawyer was held in China in 1986.

In order to standardize the judicial examination system, provisions are stipulated on the content, manner and organization of the exam, and the qualifications for applicants and certificate recipients, says the paper.

From 2002 to 2007, China successively held six state judicial examinations, which promoted to build up professional ranks of judges, prosecutors, lawyers and notaries, the white paper says.
