KMT Chairman worships ancestors in home village

On his way back to Taiwan from the Beijing Olympic Games, the Chinese KMT Chairman Wu Poh-hsiung worshiped ancestors in his hometown in East China's Fujian Province.

Local residents of the village welcomed him beating drums and performing lion dances.

Wu and his followers arrived in the Sixian village and attended a welcome ceremony, which was participated with his old family members. He donated 50,000 yuan to the Miss Ancestral Hall, and wished a happier and better life for the folks.

"Even the mountains and seas can't separate the kinship between mainland and Taiwan"Wu said emotionally.

Wu also visited the Sixian primary school and donated 100,000 yuan and musical instruments to the school, saying he hopes the kids to grow up with knowledge needed in serving the motherland in the future.

Wu then went to the cemetery and paid respect to his ancestral tomb.

Wu Po-hsiung and his wife Daimei Yu also visited a Hakka Tulou which was just added to the list of world cultural heritages by the UNESCO.

After three days of the "ancestral trip", Wu is heading to Xiamen in Thursday evening before returning to Taiwan on Friday.

"Hakka Tulou's charm lies not in architecture, but in the Hakka culture, including people's harmonious lifestyle and mutual respect," Wu said.
