Finland furthers co-op on clean tech with China

Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang and Finnish President Tarja Halonen attended a signing ceremony between Finnish companies and their Chinese consumers on Wednesday in Beijing.

The signing ceremony, part of the Cleantech Finland China Seminar which is organised by the Embassy of Finland and supported by the National Development and Reform Commission, included an estimated 1.5 billion euro of preliminary trade contracts for introducing Finnish green technologies into the Chinese market, according to Santtu Hulkkonen, executive director of Cleantech Finland.

Leading Finnish enterprises with clean energy and low-carbon technologies joined with Chinese consumers and partners to discuss future cooperation between Finland and China.

China should seek sustainable development due to its huge population and considerable scarce natural resources, and Finnish technologies can find broad markets in China, according to Vice Premier while he addressed the seminar.

Finnish companies also are attracted by the massive Chinese market and its buoyant urbanization process, which would need efficient energy technologies and skills, Ole Johansson, CEO of Wartsila Corp, told the China Daily website during an interview at the seminar.
