Beijing launches residence permit reform

Beijing will launch a more feasible system for population management to better control the floating population.

Residence permits play an important role in population management. Reform has been discussed for several years and is now being put into a draft by the Ministry of Public Security.

According to officials, management of residence permits will be made based on the actual situation in Beijing. The population control experiences of other cities will also be taken into account.
