Great power relations are highly anticipated. China and the US are expected to make tangible progress in the China-US Bilateral Investment Treaty talks. The China-EU 2020 Strategic Agenda for Cooperation will be further implemented. China and Russia are expected to cooperate more in investment, energy, high-tech and innovation industries.

For now, China needs to deal with its standoff with Japan and its engagement with the US at the same time. There's a good chance that China may face a stronger US-Japan alliance even as it endeavors to build a new type of major power relationship with the United States.
