Pretending to be a man online, a woman "fell in love" with two women at the same time.

What's more, she was able to cheat them out of a total of 220,000 yuan (US$26,500).

Gao, 37, a jobless woman in Baoji of Shaanxi Province, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for her fraudulent activities.

Pretending to be a company manager in Shanghai, Gao made "girlfriends" online during April 2003 and June 2004.

Each believed wholeheartedly that Gao was a "him" and gave money to her to help her out of troubles she had made up.

Her trick was not discovered until one of the girlfriends from Beijing went to Baoji to meet her "man." Unable to find "him," the woman reported the scam to police, the Xinhua News Agency reports.

**Kids use candy bribery for class monitor jobs

Call it youthful politics, but it's sophisticated and may have gotten the job done were it not for an older and wiser teacher.

Some 6-year-old kids at a Wuxi kindergarten in Jiangsu Province were found to be offering candy in an attempt to entice their classmates to vote them into office as class monitors, the Jiangnan Evening News reports.

They made the bold pronouncements in front of their classmates.

Hearing the attempts at bribery, the kids' teacher stopped the blatant vote grab and decided to offer a lesson in sharing. The candy was distributed among the entire class.

Experts said the bribery idea might not have come from the kids, and may have been planted by an overzealous parent.

**Spooky house caters to frightened clientele

A ghostly restaurant in Shanghai is proving to be attractive to lots of young people, the Shanghai Morning Post reports.

Every customer has to wear handcuffs before entering the building and each individual room is decorated like a jail cell.

Waiters and waitresses are dressed like ghosts and sometimes jump out of nowhere.

Sudden screams are heard, though more than 30 per cent of those eating at the restaurant say it is still not scary enough.
