 Sean Boyne and student Ibrahim al-Marashi have attacked Tony Blair for using their reports to call for war against Iraq.
Mr Boyne, who works for military magazine Jane's Intelligence Review. Articles he wrote in 1997 were plagiarized for a 19-page intelligence document to add weight to the PM's warmongering. He said: "I don't like to think that anything I wrote has been used for an argument for war. I am concerned because I am against the war." The other main source was a thesis by post-graduate student, Ibrahim al-Marashi's research partly based on documents seized in the 1991 Gulf War, including typing and grammatical errors. After the dossier's origins were revealed, Mr Blair was accused. The fiasco has deeply damaged his attempts to win backing for military action. And Labour MP Glenda Jackson said: "It is another example of how the Government is attempting to mislead the country and Parliament. The PM's official spokesman rejected Ms Jackson's claims but admitted it had been a mistake not to acknowledge Mr al-Marashi's thesis in the dossier. He added: "The fact we used some of his work doesn't throw into question the accuracy of the document as a whole. This document is solid." The dossier had been praised by US Secretary of State Colin Powell in his speech to the UN Security Council. 博伊恩說："我不愿意看到自己的東西被用來為戰爭推波助瀾，我是反對戰爭的。" 而這份政府文件的另一個主要來源是研究生伊伯拉希姆·阿里·馬拉什根據1991年海灣戰爭的文件寫成的一篇論文，連其中的拼寫和語法錯誤都原封不動地被照搬了上去。 抄襲事件被披露后，首相布萊爾的日子自然不那么好過了，之前他為爭取對伊拉克采取軍事行動的支持而作諸多的努力，現在效果也大打折扣。 工黨議員格倫德·杰克遜對此評價說："這是另一例絕好的證明，說明了政府是如何試圖誤導整個國家和議會的。" 首相發言人則表示不同意杰克遜的觀點，但他承認沒有在文件中指明出處是一個錯誤。但他又說："我們在文件中引用他（伊伯拉希姆·阿里·馬拉什）的文章并沒有使文件的準確性受影響。文件的論據是十分充足的。" 據悉，美國國務卿鮑威爾在聯合國安理會上發言時，還對英國政府的這份報告贊揚有加呢。 （中國日報網站譯） |
