Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrival's gate at Heathrow airport.General opinion start to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed. But I don't see that, seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there, fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriend, girlfriend, old friends. When the plane hit the Twin Tower, as far as I know, none of the phone calls from people on board were messages of hate or revenge. They are all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling love actually is all around.

妙詞佳句，活學活用

1. Get gloomy with sth.

Gloomy 這個詞應該算得上是個常用詞匯了，因為每當心情不好的時候，我們就會用得到，比如：What's going on? You look gloomy today. 當然我們也可以說 sth is gloomy，打個比方， Our future is gloomy. 指的就是“前途暗淡！”而短語 get gloomy with sth 指的是對某種東西感到焦慮，甚至有時是到了憂郁的地步。原文當中的這句話 I get gloomy with the state of the world. 指的就是"對世界的現狀感到焦慮！"

2. It's not particularly dignified or newsworthy

如果要完全理解這句話，我們首先要看一下dignified 這個詞，通常情況下，在我們的意識里dignified 這個詞指的是“有尊嚴的，高貴的”。但是在這里意思就完全不一樣了，它指的是“使夸大……”。下一個詞 newsworthy 的意思是“具有新聞報道價值的”。那么把整個一句話連起來的意思就是“這種愛沒有被特意夸大或者有新聞價值！”

3. It's always there
“它一直都在那兒”! 看似簡單的一句話，卻很少有人能在適當的時候用好。我們先設定一個場景：有些人在遇到困難的時候總是會選擇逃避，雖然大家心里都清楚躲是躲不了的，其實我們還有另外一條路可以走，那就是戰勝困難，一直向前。因為 The difficulties are always there, and the only choice we've got is to face it and conquer it.
