The administrative committee of Zhongguancun Fengtai Park, the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) of Britain, and Beijing Fengtai New Material Testing Center signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on mutual cooperation on graphene industry, people.com.cn reported on Wednesday.

"One fifth of enterprises in Fengtai Park deal with new materials. Our goal is to make technical breakthrough in the graphene industry within one or two years and build an international new materials industry base in three or five years," said Zhang Jie, director of the Park's administrative committee.

The cooperation with NPL brings the Park and even the country's graphene industry to a new stage.

This is not the first time that Fengtai Park steps into the graphene industry. In September, 2014, the Park launched an international cooperation project based on grapheme material technology, which is the first in kind in Beijing.

As a new kind of material, graphene has been widely used in various industries and grabbed attention around the world.

NPL is an internationally respected center working in the field of measurement and materials science. Founded in 1900, the laboratory is a leading institution in graphene properties research and testing.
