Zhao Hong, head of the Institute of Innovation and Development of Science and Technology, released the Zhongguancun Index 2017 at the Third National Mass Entrepreneurship and Innovation Activity Week's Beijing-themed exhibition on Sept 15.

The Zhongguancun Index 2017 lists the fruits of cooperation between the Institute of Innovation and Development of Science and Technology and the Beijing Fangdi Institute of Economic Development.

The report shows six aspects of Zhongguancun–entrepreneurship environment, innovation capability, industrial development, business growth, radiation capacity and internationalization.

Zhongguancun has improved its attraction of foreign talent through providing convenient services for foreign visas, and foreign departures and entry. By the end of 2016, the park introduced about 40,000 foreign talents and graduates returned from abroad.

In order to promote the development of bio-pharmaceutical companies and "Internet Plus" services, Zhongguancun took the lead in carrying out pilot policies and electronic registration for local companies.

The Zhongguancun World Maker Town has become a habitat for more than 300 startups since its inception earlier this year. Some 65 percent of entrepreneurs entering the town are under 30, and startups there mostly specialize in internet services, artificial intelligence, healthcare and online education. By the end of 2016, Zhongguancun established 72 entrepreneurship investment guidance funds with a total fund of up to 37.6 billion yuan ($5.75 billion). At present, Zhongguancun has 312 listed companies with a total value of over 5.5 trillion yuan.

Emerging industries, including artificial intelligent (AI), graphene, sharing economy, are rising at a rapid speed in Zhongguancun in 2016.
