Penalties for illegal acts of humiliating, defaming or falsely reporting and harming another person

According to provisions of Law on Penalties for Administration of Public Security, any person who commits any of the following acts, shall be imposed on a detention of not more than five days or a fine of not more than 500 Yuan; if the circumstances are serious, a detention of not less than five days but not more than ten days shall be imposed on and in addition a fine of not more than 500 Yuan may be imposed on:

(1) writing threatening letters or by other means to threaten the personal safety of another person;

(2) openly humiliating another person or defaming another person by fabricated stories;

(3) falsely reporting and harming another person by fabricated stories in an attempt to make the person suffer from criminal investigation or to be penalized for administration of public security;

(4) threatening, humiliating or beating up a witness or his near relative or retaliating against them;

(5) repeatedly sending pornographic, humiliating, intimidating or other information to disturb the normal life of another person; or

(6) peeping, taking photos secretly, eavesdropping, or spreading the privacy of another person.
