Abstract:

Self-growth has been a distinctive character with the Chinese economy since reform and opening up. A striking problem is expansion of the economy at low cost, caused by flaws in the institution in the process of structural transformation. While strengthening macro economic control and regulation, the treatment should be put more on the root causes than the symptoms. To solve the issue of "expansion at low cost", what needs to be stressed is to promote reform and improve the institutions so as to achieve a stable, fast and healthy growth in the economy.
