Kite surfers from the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone, Fujian province, claimed the first and second places at the second Shenzhen Kiteboard Open, which was held on Oct 12 and 13 in China's city of Shenzhen, Guangdong province.

This year's event attracted 30 teams from various countries and regions, including Russia and Hong Kong, setting a record high in terms of number of teams and athletes in an event of its kind in the Pearl River Delta region.

Li Peng and Deng Xiaochen, both from Pingtan, finished the speed race in the first and second places, respectively.

The Pingtan Times quoted Deng Xiaochen as saying that he saw a lot of old friends at this year's event, which seemed more like a reunion for kite suffers, and this aspect of the event was even more enjoyable for him than winning the race itself.
