Guizhou province plans to open more free public spaces to senior citizens in the next five years to be used for daily recreational and sports activities.

Statistics show that by the end of 2012, 4.79 million old people in Guizhou will be over 60. The number will reach 5.2 million by 2015.

By the end of 2012, Guizhou had established 5,540 senior citizen sports associations, and more than 2.1 million senior citizens were involved in exercise activities.
