Members of the Yuhuanggou Qu Ju Ensemble performed for residents in Yuhuanggou village of Ruzhou on Feb 16. The members of the ensemble are mainly composed of farmers.

Henan Qu Ju opera originated in Yuhuanggou, where villagers to this day enjoy performing Qu Ju opera. During Spring Festival, villagers performed the modern opera The 18th Party Congress Spirit Warms the People’s Heart, expressing the villagers’ eagerness to study the spirit of the 18th National Congress of the CPC. This modern opera was written by an amateur writer from Yuhuanggou named Ma Guoping. The performance earned resounding applause from the audience.
