Kunshan had recently won honors for its energy-savings and green building demonstration area. Among Kunshan's applied areas, Huaqiao' s ten projects with total building area of 810,000 square meters, account for more than 50 percent.

According to provincial strategy for building energy-savings and green buildings demonstration area, Huaqiao would promote green construction. During the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-15), core area of the headquarters base, international financial service outsourcing area, cross-Strait trade and cooperation area, Tianfu ecological recreation area and Huaqiao living area would be built into provincial or higher level green building demonstration areas.
