CGGC signs the Mambilla Project Contract

On May 28, 2007, contract signing ceremony for Mambilla Hydroelectric Power Project, the largest HPP in Nigeria, was held in Abuja. Liu Yanhua, chairman of Labor Union of CGGC and representatives from CGGC International attended the ceremony.

Mambilla Project is a cooperative project issued in Beijing Summit of 2nd Forum of China and Africa Cooperation and also a significant symbol of Sino-Africa friendship. On March 30, 2007 CGGC-CGC Joint Venture received the Letter of Acceptance for the execution of the Project. It is the largest HPP ever contracted by Chinese companies in Africa.

The Ceremony was held in the Conference Room of the Ministry of Engergy, Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Contract was signed by Mr. Edmund Daukoru, Minister of Energy of Nigeria, Mr. Liu Yanhua, Chairman of Labor Union of CGGC, Mr. Li Xuhui, general manager of Nigeria Company Ltd of CGC Overseas Construction Co. Ltd. and concerned persons.

After introducing information of the Project, the Minister highlighted that the execution of Mambilla Project will not only ease the shortage of power supply but also promot Nigerian economy vigorously. He was confident in our construction of the Project.

Liu Yanhua made a speech in the ceremony and pointed out that the Ceremony is a big event of Nigerian Government to expedite the hydropower development and also of the biggest contract in Africa awarded to Chinese companies. It plays a role like the Three Gorges Project in China. We admired sincerely the Nigerian government for building the Project to benefit Nigeriea people and we, CGGC-CGC joint venture are surely honourable and pround of being the Contractor.

Liu emphasized that CGGC is the top hydropower construction company in China and will do our best for the Project by advanced technology. We do believe the Mambilla HPP would be built up by our JV with superior quality, high efficiency and safety under the support of our two countries and the common efforts of the Employer and the Employer’s Engineer.
