First cultural heritage expo begins in Ordos

On Aug 8, the first cultural heritage exposition opened in Ulanmulun grottos, Kangbashi New District of Ordos. The expo will last until Aug 25. The exhibition’s museum for the cultural heritage of Ordos opened that evening.

With the theme “ethnic rarities enter your life”, the expo is hosted by the bureau of culture and media organizations of Ordos and the administrative committee of Kangbashi New District.

During the opening ceremony, there were various cultural performances, including traditional songs, dances and showcasing of traditional clothing.

From Aug 8 to 25, the expo will be exhibiting the cultural heritages of ethnic minorities, along with bronze ware and performances demonstrating the cultural heritage of Ordos.

The deputy secretary of the local government, Yan Yongsheng, said at the ceremony that in the process of promoting cultural undertakings and industry, Ordos city in recent years has emphasized transmission and protection of its significant wealth of Inner Mongolian ethnic heritages. Yan said that the newly constructed gallery of cultural artifacts will be the main platform to preserve, propagate and present these ethnic treasures.

As a major part of the Third International Nadam Fair in Ordos and the First International Conference on Creative Culture, the expo will integrate culture with tourism so that both local citizens and tourists will be able to experience Ordos’ charming and beautiful ethnic culture. The expo intends to raise public awareness of the importance of preserving cultural heritages.

The Ordos Seminar on Ecological Culture Preservation will also be held during the fair, attended by renowned experts and scholars in the field of cultural research.
