Li Jiheng appointed as Inner Mongolia’s new Party secretary

The CPC Inner Mongolia Party Committee convened a plenary session to announce the position transfer of regional officials, during which Li Jiheng was appointed as the secretary of the CPC Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regional Committee.

Deng Shengming, vice director of the Organization Department of the Central Committee of the CPC, presided over the meeting and announced the decision made by China’s Central Committee of the CPC that Li Jiheng replaced Wang Jun as the regional Party secretary and member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

After the announcement, Li gave a speech that he would firmly obey and support the decision made by the central Party committee, and pledged to pour his efforts into the further development of Inner Mongolia during the tenure.

Li also conveyed appreciation to the achievements contributed by Wang in the last three years. Based upon Wang’s work, he would undertake the responsibilities for the economy, policies, culture, and people’s livelihood in the region, especially its advantageous industries.

Under the national Belt and Road Initiative, Inner Mongolia needs to seize the opportunity to enhance collaborations with adjacent countries and provinces, aiming to build an economic giant and cultural land in North China, Li said.

Brief biographic sketch of Li Jiheng

Li Jiheng, born in January 1957, is a male ethnic Han from Guigang, Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. He joined the Communist Party of China (CPC) in October 1976 and entered the workforce in August 1979.

In 1979, he graduated from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Guangxi University with a major in literary creation, holding an undergraduate education and a bachelor degree.

Then in 1998, he completed his studies at the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC with a major in economic management, gaining an in-service postgraduate education and a master degree. In 2003, he graduated from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and achieved a doctoral degree in management.

During his civil service, Li took positions including vice secretary of the CPC Gui county committee, municipal secretary of the CPC Nanning committee, the deputy secretary of the CPC Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Regional Committee, and secretary of the CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee.
