The city of Zhangjiagang in Jiangsu province was honored with the "National Model Base for IOT (Internet of Things) Application" at the country's sixth IOT industry annual meeting, held recently in Beijing.

The construction of a smart city has been a critical step in the process of modern urbanization. In recent years, a batch of technology companies have sparked up in Zhangjiagang city bringing with them some great technological achievements.

Suzhou Shengshihua'an Intelligent Science and Technology Company, headquartered in Zhangjiagang, is one such remarkable case. The company developed its IOT information cloud data system through self R&D winning two national technology awards and made it onto the list of Suzhou's major projects in the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020).

The self-developed data system integrates various "Internet + IOT" applications and serves as the new engine of the city's economic development that is able to promote economic optimization and upgrading. The industrial output value of which is estimated more than 500 billion yuan.

In the future, the city will strive to explore a sustainable and repeatable innovative business model to push speedy development of smart city construction, said a government official.
