The eighth National Xiaoxi and Xiaopin Exhibition was held in Zhangjiagang, a beautiful port city in Jiangsu province from Nov 2 to 5.

The event was devoted to promoting the traditional arts of xiaoxi, an ancient storytelling art integrating song and dance, and xiaopin, a traditional type of comedy skit.

A total of 15 comedy skits and 25 traditional art forms were performed including Wuxi Opera, Sichuan Opera, Huangmei Opera and Jiangxi Opera.

The much-loved variety event is an important part of the 2019 China (Zhangjiagang) Yangtze River Culture and Art Festival.

Since it was first held in 2007, the festival has attracted many performers from across the country and invited top experts to exchange experiences on the performances to preserve and promote the dramatic arts of Zhangjiagang and other cities along the Yangtze River.
