Overview

The Dandong Tongyuanpu Economic Development Zone sits at the northern end of Dandong on a 179.6-square-kilometer area, with an accessible network of highways and railway arteries.

It is 110 km from Shenyang Taoxian International Airport, 100 km from the Dandong Airport, 120 km from Dandong Port, and 370 km from Dalian Port. The Shenyang-Dandong Passenger Dedicated Line, which is under construction, has a station in the zone.

Development plan

The zone expects to be a sort of relay point between Shenyang and Dandong, as well as the northern gateway of Dandong, a logistics center, an important industrial and trade town, a livable place, and a perfectly landscaped city.

Developers plan to speed up work on urbanization and economic advances. In tourism, the zone will give priority to the Daheishan ecological-tourist resort and to turning it into a natural oxygen bar and place for relaxation, far from the metropolis and close to nature. For its economic growth, the zone is thinking of a 10 km corridor along National Highway 304, with the following: a materials and logistics park; iron-steel production and logistics park; a food processing, mineral processing, machining, precision casting and pharmaceuticals area: and a modern agricultural park for local produce.

Work in 2011

The first thing is to implement a “greater development zone” plan covering all kinds of work.

Second, the zone needs to attend to project construction, while integrating and improving existing industries, and establishing a system that covers the resource processing industry, logistics, real estate, modern services, and tourism.

Third, it needs to improve urban infrastructure and turn the area into a livable place.

Fourth, is the promotion of investment and project negotiations, and moving projects from coastal areas in accordance with the national gradient-transfer policy.

Fifth, is the improvement of financing and loans, and greater coordination with provincial banks and related departments to secure funds and loans. Priority will be given to the industrial park’s initial area.

Sixth, is improved environmental protection and working on environmental improvements, developing more effective natural resource protections, and restoring the ecosystem.
