The launching ceremony of the civilization messenger campaign was held on Aug 25 at the cultural center of Dandong city, Liaoning province. Nearly one thousand civilization messengers and volunteers were nominated at the ceremony.

This event aims to increase Dandong citizens' sense of cultural responsibility and to improve the city's urban civilization. Mass cultural and social charitable activities were carried out during the event. Participants came from all walks of life, including cultural, sports, health and social science workers.

Participants were required to study the Manual of Civilization Messenger, which promotes cultural and sporting activities, construction of rural and urban cultural and sports activity venues, and charitable activities.

Li Shumin, deputy secretary of the Dandong municipal CPC committee, addressed the crowd and confirmed the positive social effects of the event. He encouraged people to conduct various activities, go into communities and streets of different towns, counties and districts to spread the good word.

At the ceremony, Song Liyue, chief of the Dandong municipal CPC publicity department, publicized the campaign's implementation plan. Representatives of the civilization messenger delivered speeches to call on more local residents to take part in the event.

The campaign was sponsored by the Dandong Port Group and was held by the Dandong municipal CPC publicity department and the municipal civilization office.
